Abstract
A description is presented of three related methods for detecting 2-D region discontinuities. One method extends Leclerc´s (1985) 2-D work. The other two arise from the concept behind the maximum-homogeneity filter. All of the methods use some form of 2-D neighborhood-partitioning mechanism, like that of Leclerc, and hence use 2-D local structural information. Also, all the methods allow detection of multiple edges about an image point. The methods are described and illustrative results presented
