Abstract
This paper presents a new control strategy to improve natural balancing properties of a stacked multicell converter (SMC) dedicated to high voltage high power applications. Another advantage of this topology is the spectral quality of the output voltage. The specific features of this converter are presented. Then the control requirements and the corresponding modulator are discussed. Finally, the study of the balancing of the capacitor voltages leads to a modified modulator.
