Abstract
Lately, the Japanese medical costs have been increasing due to the aging of population. Self-medication is one of the best solutions, but it is too difficult for an elderly person to keep his or her health condition well. Accordingly, we proposed an intelligent medicine case (iMec) to assist caregivers in monitoring the condition anytime and anywhere, to detect a sign of incorrect medication automatically, and to help the elderly recipient to take medicine correctly by input-output devices embedded in itself. However, we didn´t consider pharmacist´s business and recipient´s usability; we conducted interviews about the design and function of the previous iMec (iMec Gl), and we developed a new intelligent medicine case (iMec G2) based on the comments of pharmacists and recipients. As a result, the height and weight of iMec were greatly improved, and the medicine detection method of iMec was slightly refined.
