Abstract
Realizing electrical printed circuit boards with integrated optical interconnects for high bandwidth interconnects requires numerical models and algorithms for analyzing and optimizing signal propagation within optical multimode waveguides. This paper presents a method for the numerical computation of the propagation constants of the guided modes of graded-index waveguides. Moreover, a new approach is presented which allows the computation of waveguide losses occurring within graded-index waveguides manufactured by an ion-exchange diffusion process.
