  • Abstract
We explore the performance of switched beam systems (SBS) under conditions of angular, delay, and Doppler spread. We offer a derivation of the probability of selecting a given beam for processing when IS-136 TDMA color codes are used for beam validation. This result is then used to derive the average output SIR for the SBS using the given validation process. We simulate the performance of SBS using maximum RSSI validation and compare it to that of the standard sector antenna system for various angle spreads. We also compare the performance of the color code validation scheme to the maximum RSSI scheme
