Abstract
A novel algorithm for pattern null synthesis which is based on the Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization is proposed. It uses the element nulling vector method which not only maintains all the advantages of pattern null synthesis presented but also low increase in the pattern sidelobe level for suppressing the wide band and setting up wide notch. Compared with the original algorithms, in the case of setting up the same null notch, the sidelobe level decreases about 3/spl sim/5 dB. The numerical result comparison between this algorithm and the original ones are given.<>
