  • Abstract
    A novel three-layer sensor based on LRSPP is proposed for detecting the refractive index changes, especially in the biosensor field. We find that the loss and electromagnetic field size of LRSPP are sensitive to the refractive index of detection substance. By measuring the output power or (and) field size of LRSPP, we can detect the refractive index changes of detection substance. LRSPP field size is a new parameter here for refractive index change detection and may lead to a much higher sensitivity compared to current SPP biosensors.
