  • Abstract
The issue of intelligent electric power industry, in particular Smart Grid, has become a strategic priority of energy policy of the world´s leading countries. Analysis of documents determining the prospects for the electric power industry of developed and developing countries for 20 years ahead and further shows that the application of Smart Grid technologies is considered as a means of solving a wide range of problems, one of which is reliable operation of electric power systems. This requires an increasingly higher speed of obtaining and processing the information, in order to promptly estimate system state and take preventive measures to provide reliable power supply. The present paper addresses the issue of determining the coordinates of short circuit location in transmission lines. This can be achieved by digital processing of current data on currents in lines and by the use of the Rogowski coil as a primary transducer.
