Abstract
A description of the current status and of the capabilities of digital techniques for the measurement of the three quantities of rotating motion control systems is presented in this work. The analysis covers the requirements of a digital system for the measurement of velocity and acceleration. The use of a 24 bit single-chip digital signal processor in a system developed is reported along with experimental results indicating high performance characteristics; single period response, zero output ripple, 4 decades dynamic range and very high accuracy figures
