  • Abstract
The migration has been utilized in reflective seismic processing. The F-K migration method is derived on the assumption that propagation velocity is uniform while the phase-shift (P-S) method assumes that the propagation velocity varies depending on the depth. The P-S method gives relatively good quality images but requires long computation time. In th paper, the authors propose the block migration method in which the F-K method is applied to the divided image blocks with a local propagation velocity. In this method, the LOT (lapped orthogonal transform) is applied in order to improve the influence by blocking without an increase in computation time. Some experimental results point out that the block migration method has a good capability of improving image quality and its processing time becomes one tenth in comparison with the P-S method
