Abstract
Decimal error detecting codes are frequently used to protect fixed length decimal data from data entry errors such as the substitution of an erroneous digit in place of a correct one or the transposition of adjacent digits. This work develops codes which, in addition, detect length errors resulting from the erroneous omission or insertion of digits.
