Abstract
In this paper, the author present a growth model of proliferation of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs), including the availability of charging infrastructure for the EVs. Based on the proposed model, the effects of various policy initiatives to support the proliferation of EVs into the community is assessed. To achieve the reduced carbon emissions by replacement of internal combustion vehicles with PEVs, optimal control strategy is applied to obtain the most effective policy options.
