  • Abstract
The authors outline and discuss the main issues involved when applying the object-oriented approach to expert systems development. They focus on their utilization in the analysis, design and implementation of a scholarship eligibility consultant expert system. An intelligent environment which provides assistance with scholarship applications is implemented. The object-oriented approach to knowledge representation and the message passing and inheritance based inference mechanism are explored and applied
