Abstract
This work deals with the nonlinear aspects of telecommunications. Analog and discrete telecommunication circuits and systems possessing small nonlinearities are considered. As the proper tools for their analyses and synthesis procedures, the continuous and discrete Volterra series are used. New results regarding the methods of nonlinear distortion analysis and minimization, computer algorithms for such analyses, and circuit structures developed with the use of the above tools are presented in this paper. Moreover, some new design methodologies developed for the class of circuits and systems mentioned are discussed. Wideband amplifiers, analog active filters, sinusoidal oscillators, and digital nonlinear echo cancellers are examples of circuits discussed here. The new results achieved in the theory of the discrete Volterra series are also presented. Furthermore, new structures of nonlinear echo cancellers based on the approximators using the lattice maps or sigmoid functions, or the so-called radial functions are described.
