Abstract
An architecture, which is based on hierarchical structure, and combines the wired with wireless communication, real time with huge amount data transmission, is proposed to resolve the problems in traffic state acquisition. In the course of implementation, CAN and Ethernet are used as real time communication and huge amount data transmission. ZigBee is also used as the wireless mode. The tests in lab and in field show the sensor networks for traffic state acquisition can collect the traffic state parameter precisely, process the data quickly and transmit the data reliably. The results show that architecture is feasible and practicable.
