  • Abstract
    VC-1 is the informal name of the society of motion picture and television engineers (SMPTE) standard 421M, describing a video codec based on Microsoft´s Windows media video (WMV) version 9. OMAP2420 is Texas instrument´s open multimedia applications platform with multi-processor architecture. This paper describes the implementation of the video decoder part of VC-1 simple profile standard on Image and Video Accelerator (IVA) subsystem of OMAP2420 platform with major focus on algorithmic, architectural and memory level optimizations. These optimization steps help in achieving significant gain in decoder performance without sacrificing the footprint and data memory requirement.
