Abstract
In this paper we describe a modified parallel-coupled microstrip filter structure. Using this new structure the filter upper stop-band performance is improved by at least 15 dB. The new structure uses less space than the traditional parallel-coupled filter structure first proposed by S.B. Cohn in 1958 [1]. This new structure is especially useful for filter bandwidths greater than 25%. Several examples show the performance improvement of the filters fabricated in both low dielectric constant (2.55) and high dielectric constant (10.2) substrates.
