Abstract
KEPCO (Kansai Electric Power CO.), which supplies over 12 million customers, has been propelling the “multi-service network”. It enables advanced AMR (automatic meter reading), such as supervision of consumption, load control and information service to customers. The multi-service network will play an important role in attracting customers and effective operation under the competitive market. KEPCO constructs FTTO (fiber to the office) network in urban business area and FTTC (fiber to the curb) network in urban residential areas. For establishing the network effectively, KEPCO introduces unique methods such as “communication network sharing” with CATV companies and application of PHS (personal handyphone systems)
