Abstract
We experimentally demonstrate `backward´ hysteresis loop in optical bistability from an optical ring cavity containing three-level (Lambda-type) rubidium atoms. Switching from `backward´ to normal hysteresis loop can be controlled by coupling field and cavity detuning
