Abstract
The technique of swept frequency response for condition monitoring of power transformers in-situ provides a non-intrusive means of determining the mechanical integrity of winding systems. The paper describes a new modelling strategy by which the physical dimensions, electromagnetic field distribution, and material properties of the transformer construction are fed into a purpose written program which generates an equivalent circuit model for the windings. The circuit model would be suitable for solution by standard network solvers such as SPICE. A comparison between the measured and calculated results using the newly developed technique for frequency response tests are encouraging
