  • Abstract
Although the topics of lean and agile manufacturing frequently focus on factory floor operations, these concepts can also be applied to capacity management. Changes to process volumes, product mixes, and productivity improvements can shift capacity requirements significantly: only through lean and agile practices can that capacity be captured and redeployed, resulting in cost savings. To address this, a process to achieve lean capacity was developed. This includes: identification of required and excess capacity, reassignment of capacity, and movement of equipment from one location to another when required. Ultimately, the process was automated to improve the efficiency and agility
