Abstract
MWAVE2 is an educational tool for computer aided design of linear microwave ampliflers which covers all the topics involved in the design, from transistor selection to the synthesis of the microstrip circuit layout. A new method has been developed for the design of LNA stages that makes it possible to rapidly find the most appropriate loads for a given active device by using a graphical display of the constant gain circles, the output stability circle and the mapped input stability and noise circles onto the output impedance chart. MWAVE2 is especially useful for educational purposes as the student does not analyze or optimize designs already made by an experienced engineer but this tool enables the student to create his own circuits starting from the selection of the active device. The application is written in C and runs under UNIX and DOS operating system.
