Abstract
Electromagnetic wave scattering from a rough boundary of a stratified medium, with an arbitrary dependency of refractive index on a vertical coordinate, is investigated in the framework of small perturbation method. It is shown that the large-scaled roughness can be the main reason of destroying the interference between three type of interfering waves, that leads to the "survival" of only one specific set of interference maxima and suppression of the others. The backscattering enhancement peak parameters are estimated.
