Abstract
A performance model based on closed queuing network is established to evaluate the performance of IEEE 802.11 DCF under the condition of non-saturated traffic. The principle of operation and the applicability of the queue networks model is described, the impact of the number of terminals traffic load and package size on the performance are analyzed. The throughput expression under non-saturated traffic load is derived by employing the queuing model. Simulation results show that the model can evaluate the performance of DCF effectively.
