  • Abstract
This paper describes an optimum approach to nonlinear circuit analysis. The technique consists in determining in the power space, a closed volume including all the allowed powers at terminal ports of the nonlinear device. The boundary of this volume, called "characteristic surface", permits to deduce the optimum powers and the corresponding loads. The method has been applied to microwave oscillators. The design of FET and Tunnel diode oscillators has shown good agreement between predicted and experimental results.
