Abstract
In this paper, we propose a mode transfer architecture and cross layer design for connection aware applications in wireless communication systems. System architecture design and implementation are considered, and practical design examples are given based on existing wireless systems. To evaluate the proposed method, the performance of the network before and after mode transfer is compared. An unequal error protection (UEP) scheme for video frame transmission is also introduced to illustrate and evaluate the possible gain for video streaming with cross layer design.
