Advanced nuclear detection technologies and systems

Summary form only given. BNL is a leader in advanced designs for both neutron and gammas detectors for detecting, locating and identifying radiation sources that may be part of improvised nuclear devices or radiation dispersal devices. Using equipment that was originally built for neutron-scattering experiments at the High Flux Beam Reactor, we have developed a prototype thermal neutron camera capable of locating a Pu-based device at distances of tens of meters.
