Abstract
The IEC 61499 standard-"Function Blocks"- provides a basic device management, the corresponding services and a defined interface for the (re-)configuration of control applications for Industrial Process Measurement and Control Systems (IPMCS). This paper present an approach for an enhanced device management for IEC 61499 compliant control devices. Based on a general consideration, a categorization of basic reconfiguration services is provided. This enables the execution of more sophisticated reconfiguration tasks in a distributed automation and control system. We present such a reconfiguration application by use of a reconfiguration control application.
