Abstract
This paper, presents the prospect of an outage-free SDH radio system employed a multi-carrier coding (MCC) scheme in a multipath fading environment. The multipath fading countermeasures of multi-carrier modulation (MCM) and adaptive baseband transversal equalizers (ABTE) are simulated by using SPW software, and the system signature curves are presented respectively. To take full advantage of MCM and ABTE, a MCC scheme against frequency selective fading is proposed. Its validity as an effective fading countermeasure is proved successfully. Moreover, the feasibility of combining MCC with forward error correcting codes (FEC) to form an inner-outer coding scheme is discussed. It is expected to prevent the SDH radio system from degrading transmission performance even during severe fading
