  • Abstract
This paper present the new features of the pyrofloor® clinker cooler and their benefits. The new clinker cooler applies new solutions for the two major tasks of a clinker cooler: conveying and cooling of cement clinker. Client´s requirements are focusing on low maintenance and investment costs as well as sustained high recuperation efficiency and plant availability. In a well tuned co-operation of concept elements like walking floor bottom, aeration cassettes, sealings and flow regulators, these requirements are met to a hitherto unrivaled degree. While almost 96 % of the cassette surface is actively aerated, the absence of neither any metal part within the layer nor any relative movement between clinker and the cassette guarantees lowest possible wear. Runtime between maintenance intervals is remarkably extended to 2 years and more. The cassettes, perfectly sealed to prevent straying air and intruding clinker fines, are equipped with a flow regulator to ensure optimal aeration Hence, a 3-dimensional aeration field can be created which perfectly matches the energy load on the grate. As these valves regulate the airflow irrespective of any process disturbance, heat recuperation and operational safety is considerably enhanced. Compared to conventional systems, the target directed, well tuned aeration helps avoiding snowman-formation on the static grate.
