  • Abstract
We propose a parameter of a frequency selective multipath fading channel called frequency mean square correlation (FMSC) as an index of frequency selectivity. FMSC has two merits, namely, it has very close relationship with the performance of a frequency hopping (FH) system and it can be obtained directly from the delay profile of the channel. We verify the relationship between FMSC and various coded FH systems through simulations. We consider a repetition code, a Reed-Solomon code and a convolutional code for the error control coding scheme
