Abstract
In this paper, a practical design and fabrication of a small receiver which combines the structure of cymbal-type receiver with the material of a new kind of piezoelectric ceramic PLZT (lanthanum-modified lead zirconate titanite ) was introduced. The working principle of which was studied, and the characteristics such as frequency response, sensitivity and directivity were investigated. Finite element method (FEM) is used for frequency response and sensitivity analysis. Two kinds of prototype of cymbal-type receiver had been made and calibrated, Experimental results show that the receivers made by PLZT have lower sensitivity but more stable reception property in comparison with those made by lead zirconate titanite (PZT).
