Abstract
Conductor losses constitute an important design parameter in MMIC´s due to the miniaturized dimensions, especially when dealing with coplanar MMICs. This contribution presents a new hybrid FD approach in the frequency domain. Quasi-static field simulations are employed to estimate the field and current distribution in miniaturized structures. The results are used to determine so-called correction factors, which are incorporated into the FD equations by simple multiplication. The method is verified by applying it to three typical MMIC CPW structures and comparing it with the standard FD method and a mode-matching approach.
