Abstract
A 58 GHz flat panel antenna has been realized and made mass production capable using plastic injection molding and metal coating technology. The antenna RF-design has been done previously by Helsinki University of Technology and has been adapted to the requirements of injection molding and metal plating. New techniques of assembly have been developed to enable mass production of the plastic antenna in high quality. The new realization demonstrates that plastic injection molding is an effective way to produce millimeter wave antennas with a flat design, low weight and a competitive price.
