Abstract
Optical speed-up at transparency (OSAT) is experimentally demonstrated. A holding beam of 100 mW decreases the recovery time of a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) by a third without changing its gain. OSAT is found to be effective over 20 nm around transparency and applicable to long SOA.
