Abstract
Experimental characterization of the electromagnetic field behind a cylindrical obstacle covered with an Electromagnetic Band-Gap (EBG) structure consisting of a width-modulated microstrip line on a flexible dielectric substrate is described. Such a characterization is carried out by a semi-automatic set-up, which allows a 2D scanning over an area of several wavelengths in the Ku band. The effect of the novel type of cloaking configuration is characterized, by comparing the field distribution behind the object with respect to the uncloaked configuration.
