  • Abstract
    Enterprises clusters have been the subject of growing attention based on the role they play in the knowledge-based economy. The geographic concentrations of enterprises are thought to promote innovation through frequent interactions and information flows. Both local linkages and global pipelines offer particular, albeit different, advantages for the technology innovation and knowledge creation within enterprises clusters. Our aim is to propose a theoretical framework on the innovation strategy of enterprises clusters based on global-local network linkages. Firstly, this paper takes a closer look at inter-firm innovation and knowledge-creation at the local level. Secondly, it discusses the innovation lock-in risk which resulted from unduly depending on cluster local network. Then, it analyzes the role of global linkages in the innovation process of enterprises clusters, and presents a way to constructing the global knowledge network. Finally, it discusses how to reap the benefits of both the local network and the global network so as to upgrade the innovation capability of enterprises cluster.
