Abstract
The Dynamic characteristics of ultra-thin gas film at the head/disk interface of hard disk drives were studied numerically. The modified Reynolds equation for the description of the dynamic behavior of gas flow was solved by using an approach based on PDE module and iteration method. Two kinds of typical slider profiles were used to testify the proposed numerical methods. The simulation results show that the rail profile and the flying height of the slider have great impact on the dynamic characteristics of the slider of hard disk drives.
