Abstract
In this paper, a practical design of fingerprint recognition combined with smart card verification for two-factor authentication system is proposed. Our core algorithm processing unit is based on TI´s TMS320VC5510, a high-performance, low-power and fixed-point DSP. Feature data storage is completed by RF card, which is different from ordinary solution. When DSP finishes the feature extracting, features are packaged according to transfer protocol and matched as the 1:1 mapping method from the RF card. 5510 has more than one McBSP but no asynchronous communication interface; we implement a software way to simulate UART to communicate with RF card, using the McBSP and DMA. This operation is effective and cost-efficient for the whole system. In addition, optimization and parallel transfer feasibility speed up the performance.
