Abstract
This paper presents a full-wave transient simulation of radiation emission of a power converter by applying CST microwave studioreg (CST MWS). IGBT switching spikes, harness and cabling, and all associated passive components are taken into account together with the metallic housing in the simulation. Linear network theory is employed due to the fact that higher harmonic noise is small respect to the operating point. Transient and spectral distribution of electric field within a cubic volume containing the housing is obtained. Shielding net is designed with unit-cell and perturbation methods. The overall emission is successfully reduced with the shielding net.
