Abstract
The paper presents the performance results of the Ethernet and token bus media access control protocols in the presence of both voice and data traffic. The results are based on simulations. The simulations incorporate a space-time bus model, integrated nodes, and realistic traffic models. An Ethernet priority mechanism is proposed and the performance of both protocols with and without priority is compared
