  • Abstract
The authors have developed a multi-channel surface electromyographic decomposition method (McSED) for routine clinical examinations and for clinical research. In the McSED method, the firing rate of an incomplete motor unit action potential (MUAP) train is estimated with a maximum likelihood (ML) estimator. Calculations utilize a simple iterative numerical method. In addition to the firing rate, the variance of the firing time and the detection probability of the MUAP´s in a train are also estimated. Results show that the estimation method is effective, and that the algorithm is fast
