Abstract
A simpler setup is proposed to generate and measure such photonic qutrit MUBs. The generation of the qutrits is based on two-photon states coming from a frequency degenerate spontaneous down-conversion source (SPDC). The photons are subjected to individual SU(2) transformation before they are combined on a beam splitter. When both incident photons leave the same splitter output a certain qutrit state is generated. We search for the settings of the two SU(2) transformations to primarily optimize the fidelity of the generated states, and secondarily to optimize the success probability.
