  • Abstract
Pre-breakdown and breakdown phenomena in liquids have been studied by using a high speed and optical observation technique. From the results, it is found that small bubbles, smaller than the wave length of light, played an important role of electronic conduction in liquids. In order to analyze the behavior of electron movement, the scattering phenomena of mm-wave due to the micro dielectric material smaller than the wave length of mm-wave have been investigated. The refraction phenomena of light is due to a small bubble under the light being a kind of electromagnetic wave. In this experiment, the mm-wave of 50 GHz is used and spherical glass whose sizes are 3, 6, 10, 12, 18, 24 and 30 mm in diameter are also used. The experimental results shows that the scattered electric field distribution measured using a 1 mm doublet antenna agrees qualitatively with the distribution calculated by the wave optics theory
