Abstract
Poly(ethylene 2, 6 naphthalene dicarboxylate) (PEN) is studied to gain more knowledge in respect to its behaviour to corona discharge activity. After discharge treatment in air, the surface of bi-axially oriented films (12 μm) is optically analysed and unusual deposits are observed. ESCA, DMTA and dielectric loss tangent measurements allow the authors to propose a crosslinking process through radicular mechanisms to explain the evolution of the insulating material
