Abstract
A new transmission strategy, Layered Multicast base on Differentiated Service (LMDS), is proposed in this paper to provide effective congestion control for real-time streaming media transmission over mobile network. LMDS splits the data stream into three sub-streams and multicast them with different network priorities. Because of this design the receiver can distinguish different package loss types by comparing sub streams´ loss rates. Congestion control is taken at receiver by adjusting the number of multicast groups it joined in. In this paper, LMDS´s effectiveness has been proved theoretically and the results of simulation experiments confirm our strategy´s superiority.
