Abstract
The effect of the rotor coating on the rotor eddy-current loss is numerically studied in the case of a three-phase, two-pole, 200 Hz, solid-rotor induction motor. It is shown that the use of a coating material having a high value of electrical resistivity decreases the rotor eddy-current losses. It is also shown that in order to reduce the rotor eddy-current losses the resistivity of the sleeve material should be at least two times higher than the corresponding value of the rotor core material
