Abstract
A patch antenna is a type of antenna which is flat and of low profile. Thus, it can be mounted on any surface and facilitates an ease of fabrication. In this paper, the general characteristics of a rectangular patch antenna are simulated and discussed. Then, a parabolic patch antenna of similar specifications is constructed and simulated. When the structures of the two antennas are compared, it is found that the parabolic patch antenna being smaller in size has larger gain and no reflected power. Moreover, it exhibits a high a gain in all directions.
