  • Abstract
Virtual design (VD) is a kind of new advanced design methods which are based on virtual reality (VR) and simulation technology. It models the whole process of product manufacture on the computers, including design, machining, assembling, measurement and assessment. This paper presents the key role of VD in the design work of bridge crane and its framework of the VD system is introduced. Some key technologies of the system are also discussed such as human-computer interface, virtual scene modelling, multi-agents´ structure, etc.
