Abstract
The renewable and non-renewable distributed generation unit in low voltage as well as high voltage networks has gained a lot of attractions due to several benefits. These benefits can be obtained by optimal planning. The optimal distributed generation planning may determine the appropriate locations, sizes, number and type of DGs to optimize electrical distribution system operational aspects of the DG. This paper contains a critical review on different approaches of the DG planning and presents numerous methods applied to the planning problem. This review paper is addressing the majority of high quality research paper after 2010.
